Kingdom Grappling Submission Event Rules and Format

Our Submission Event is built to reward real submission hunting, dominant positioning, and continuous action. Matches follow a submission only format with clear tiebreaker criteria and strict stalling enforcement. Please read all rules carefully before competing.

Match Times

Adults 8 minutes
Kids 5 minutes

Tournament Matches
All divisions 8 minutes

Win Conditions

All matches are submission only. If no submission occurs within the match time, the winner will be determined by the tiebreaker criteria below.

Tiebreaker Criteria

If no submission occurs, results are decided in the following order.

  1. Submission Attempts
A submission attempt must create a real defensive reaction from the opponent. Simply grabbing a guillotine and falling to your back without progressing the attack is not considered a submission attempt.

  2. Dominant Position
Mount and back control are considered dominant positions.

  3. Referee Decision

Stalling Calls

Active engagement is required at all times.

The referee will issue a verbal warning if an athlete is stalling.
If no clear attempt to initiate action occurs within 20 seconds, a penalty will be given.
One penalty negates one submission attempt.

If an athlete has a penalty and zero submission attempts, they automatically lose. Other tiebreaker criteria will not apply.

Illegal Techniques for All Athletes

No slamming. Intentionally lifting an opponent with the purpose of slamming is illegal. Legal throws are allowed.

If an athlete is lifted above the hips of the defending opponent while locked in a submission, the attacking athlete must release the submission. The match will restart from a neutral standing position. This rule exists to respect the effectiveness of slamming out of submissions while maintaining athlete safety.

Weigh Ins

Weigh ins will be conducted virtually the day before the event.

Athletes will receive a 1 lb weight allowance for their division.

Athletes must submit a video of themselves weighing in on a scale while holding a piece of paper with a specific random word written on it.

The random word will be generated on weigh in day and posted to social media and sent directly to registered athletes.

Rules Meeting and Bracket Reveal

Friday night before the event we will host a live Facebook broadcast.

During the live session we will randomly generate and reveal the tournament bracket.

Immediately following the bracket reveal, we will hold a rules meeting where athletes can ask any questions.

Event Schedule

The full match schedule and order of bouts will be posted prior to event day so athletes can plan arrival times accordingly.
